As defined in the provisions of E.D. Mich. LR 83.31(f)(2) attorneys appearing in connection with any judicial proceeding or presenting evidence of bar membership may bring a cell phone or any other device with wireless communication capabilities into a court facility within the Eastern District of Michigan.
Non-attorneys are not permitted to bring cell phones (including BlackBerrys) or any other device with wireless communication capabilities into court facilities within the Eastern District of Michigan.
Identification and Security Requirements
Valid picture identification is required for entry into court facilities within the Eastern District of Michigan, and all persons are required to pass through security similar to airport screening.
COVID-19 Protocols
The following items are prohibited from entry in any Federal Court Building:
- Firearms
- Knives (including pocket knives)
- Explosives
- Any other items that could be viewed as a potential weapon (e.g. scissors, letter openers, mace/pepper spray and screw drivers)

Bay City Parking Information
Two to four hour free parking is available in front of downtown Bay City destinations. Check the signs posted on the sidewalks for hours and limits.
Lots at Saginaw & Fifth, Center & Adams, Washington & Sixth or Water Street offer three hour visitor parking. Look for the green visitor parking signs at the entrance to each lot.
Saginaw and Third Streets offers some free three-hour parking sections.
Third Street offers free all day parking in some sections.
Check the street signs! Parking enforcement considers any car in violation if the car exceeds the limit or moves to another location within two blocks and exceeds the limit.

One Way Streets

Parking structure operated by Ellis Parking Co., is directly across from the courthouse. If you use the parking structure, the entrance is on Beach Street between Second and Third Streets. Beach Street is one block east of Church Street and is a southbound one-way street.
